Students taking a workshop at True Mosaics Studio

There are lots of great choices for accommodations in New Orleans, from budget to luxury. True Mosaics Studio is located in the Faubourg Marigny (meaning the Marigny neighborhood), which butts up to the Bywater neighborhood (commonly referred to as Bywater). These two neighborhoods are known for their bohemian, creative vibe and have seen an influx of new restaurants, galleries and cafes over the past few years.

If you want to stay near the studio, start your search in these two neighborhoods.
The address of the studio is 2801 Chartres St at St. Ferdinand., New Orleans, 70117
The studio is about a 15 minute walk from the eastern side of the French Quarter.
If visitors stay in other neighborhoods such as the Garden District, Uptown or Mid-City, they are probably going to want to have a car.

There are lots of bike rental places to rent bikes by the day or week.

You could also look on the popular Air B and B, or VRBO (Vacation Rental By Owner) and plug in the neighborhood you are interested in.
Students: Feel free to run the address by us to see if the apartment is well located.

Linked below is a list of bed and breakfasts near the studio. This is not an exhaustive list. Feel free to google “Marigny B and B’s” (or Bywater) and see what comes up.

There are lots of great restaurants in New Orleans (of course) in all neighborhoods.
Students registered for workshops will receive more insider info in their welcome packets.

General Studio Visits

True Mosaics Studio is a working studio and the private workspace of Laurel True. It is not open to the public, nor it is a business (such as the Institute of Mosaic Art is) with regular hours.

While we totally understand that visiting mosaic artists and enthusiasts might be excited about visiting True Mosaics Studio, please note that Laurel can not receive the number of casual visitors that request to swing by the studio while visiting New Orleans.

There are beautiful mosaics covering the outside of the studio, so feel free to come and check them out and take photos of the building, but please be respectful of Laurel’s workday and personal creative space.
