Come join us at True Mosaics Studio for a quick, fun workshop introducing the magic of glass fusing. Glass fusing is the melting together of specific types of glass in a kiln to form a new, more fabulous piece.
Kill two birds with one stone by making some holiday gifts while learning something new. Basic glass fusing is surprising easy and the myriad ways to combine glass for different effects is pretty inspiring.
Create your own unique glass pieces to turn into magnets, decorative items, ornaments or to include in mosaic projects.
Students will learn the basics of glass fusing including: glass cutting techniques, layering, playing with color and light and adding hangers to decorative pieces.
Instructor will present examples of different effects students can achieve by combining different types, colors and qualities of fusible glass, and by adding inclusions such as metal, mica and metal leaf.
A great range of materials for fusing will be available and their uses explained, including: sheet glass, frits and powders, glass rods, confetti and stringers.
Completed pieces will be shown to illustrate how materials look after firing.
Students will put their work directly in the kiln and it will be fired and ready for pickup by the following Saturday.
Since this is an evening workshop, students can feel free to bring snacks and their own beverages. Coffee and tea available at the studio.
